Residence Permit
Living on the coast usually starts with a residence permit. The rules and required documents change often; we prepare the file correctly the first time and follow it through to the card.
Residence permits for foreigners in Türkiye
Foreign nationals who wish to remain in Türkiye beyond the visa-free or visa period generally require a residence permit (ikamet). Common types include the short-term permit, which may be based on property ownership or other grounds, as well as family and student permits. Many residents along the Muğla coast, in Fethiye, Bodrum, Marmaris, Datça and Dalyan, hold short-term permits.
How an application proceeds
Applications are made to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management (İl Göç İdaresi) through the e-ikamet system, followed by an appointment. Supporting documents typically include a passport, valid health insurance, proof of address and sufficient means, and biometric photographs. After the appointment the file is assessed and the decision is notified, with the permit card issued thereafter.
Renewals, rejections and appeals
Residence permits are time-limited and are renewed before expiry. Where further information is requested, or an application is refused, defined response and appeal routes apply within set time limits. Because those limits are short, a prompt and complete response is important.
A note on accuracy
Required documents and conditions are updated periodically and can differ by permit type and nationality. The framework above is stable; for the current requirements applicable to a particular case, please contact the office.
